Itinerary

Day 1:
Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve

Begin your journey from Ol Pejeta to Lake Naivasha escapes with a morning departure from Nairobi. Drive north through the picturesque landscapes of central Kenya to Samburu National Reserve. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and a brief rest. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive. Explore Samburu’s arid landscapes and unique wildlife. Look for the “Samburu Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and beisa oryx. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, enjoying the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 2:
Exploring Samburu National Reserve

Start your day with an early morning game drive. The cooler temperatures make it a great time to spot predators like lions and cheetahs on the hunt. Afterward, return to your lodge for breakfast. You can relax or join a guided nature walk along the Ewaso Ng’iro River. This is a chance to learn about the reserve’s flora and fauna.

In the afternoon, head out for another game drive. Explore different areas of the reserve and look for more wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and various bird species. End your day with dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge, reflecting on the day’s adventures.

Day 3:
Samburu - Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, leave Samburu and drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located near the foothills of Mt. Kenya. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, set out on a game drive in Ol Pejeta. Explore its diverse habitats and look for the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes.

Visit the Endangered Species Enclosure to see the last two northern white rhinos. Learn about the conservancy’s conservation efforts. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.

Day 4:
Ol Pejeta - Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, leave Ol Pejeta and drive to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at your lakeside lodge in time for lunch and some rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha. Look for hippos, waterbucks, and various bird species, including fish eagles and pelicans.

Visit Crescent Island for a guided walking safari. Get up close to zebras, giraffes, and other wildlife. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, enjoying the tranquil lakeside ambiance.

Day 5:
Exploring Lake Naivasha & Departure

Start your day with a leisurely breakfast. Then, visit Hell’s Gate National Park. Explore the park’s dramatic landscapes on a bike ride or guided walk. Look for wildlife like zebras, buffaloes, and gazelles while marveling at the towering cliffs and geothermal activity.

Return to your lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the lake or strolling through the gardens. In the late afternoon, depart Lake Naivasha and drive back to Nairobi.
